Only four days left (May 24th) until “Fast and Furious 6” hits US theaters. Directed by Justin Lin, the sixth installment is already celebrating a huge box office success overseas, being the number one opening film (and Universal’s biggest opening day ever) in the UK and Ireland on Friday, May 17, 2013.
With the latest film of the “Fast and Furious” franchise out, work on the seventh installment is about to begin. Filming for “Fast and Furious 7” is scheduled to start this September with the release date set for July 11, 2014. It’s also time to say good bye to Justin Lin, who directed the previous four, and welcome the new director James Wan.
As for the “Fast and Furious 7” (filming) locations, Vin Diesel said in a recent interview with Digital Spy that the gang would be going back to Los Angeles and Tokyo as well as head to the Middle East. Furthermore, he added that the seventh film would be the beginning of a new trilogy.
Naturally, we are most excited about Jason Statham’s upcoming villain role which is introduced at the end of “Fast and Furious 6,” and we REALLY hope that his character survives so there’s a chance for him to be part of the eight installment as well.
